The winners of the Chant West 2015 Super Fund Awards were announced at a gala event in Sydney on 6 May, attended by more than 300 guests in attendance including industry luminaries and VIPs.
The top award of Super Fund of the Year was won by UniSuper, the primary fund for staff employed in Australia's higher education and research sectors.
Taking out the Pension Fund of the Year award – for the third consecutive year – was Queensland public sector fund, QSuper.
Introducing the awards, Chant West principal, Warren Chant, drew attention to the many distractions that funds faced from new regulations, Government inquiries and policy debates. "Despite this, what we see every day in the course of our research is funds striving to do everything they possibly can to improve the retirement outcomes of their members and the services they receive along the way," he said.
Chant also commended funds for focusing on member services as well as investments and fees, saying: " ...Almost as important is getting people to understand what they can do to improve their personal situation. This involves relevant product design, member segmentation for messaging, education in its various forms and the availability of financial advice. Increasingly, the focus is being extended beyond people’s working lives and right through their retirement years – which is as it should be."
